I’m not sure how much “boom” one can get out of this Sony SRF-80W boombox given its small size but it is definitely an interesting piece. It’s very similar to today’s iHome and other speaker docks designed for the iPod. Of course, back in the 80’s it was the Walkman that was all the rage in portable personal music. This box has no cassette and only features AM/FM radio. It measures just over a foot long. The Sony SRF-80W was produced back in 1980-1981 and also featured a leatherette case for the walkman, a carrying strap and an AC adapter. It sold for around $220.00. Some of its other features are:

As most boombox enthusiasts know, there is also a large contingent of “Walkman” collectors out there that would find this piece interesting as well. So, it actually has a decent collector value and will sell for around $100 in good working condition and up to $150 with all the accessories.
I owned this stereo back in 1981. If you were listening up close to this unit it had grate sound in all ranges from the lowest to the highest tones. I had very clearly defined bass. Can’t say enough good things about it.
I also owned this radio. Got it as a gift for Christmas! Wish I would have kept it. Brings back lots of memories.
