This is the Cougar JR-880 Personal Disco Component or Audio Visual Disco Lite made by Skitronic LTD around 1987. As you can see it makes quite the statement when all lit up. The disco styling used quite a bit of black, red, green, and yellow colors. It incorporates 4 two way speakers and puts out 35 watts of power.
The Cougar JR-880 operates at 110V AC and there is no voltage selector. It can also run on 10 “D” cell batteries or the DC 15V input jack. It measures 28″W x 14″H x 5″D.
It also features:

- AM/FM/SW1/SW2
- VU meter display
- Twin Tape System
- 7-Band Equalizer
- 10 Segment VU Meter
- Beat 1 and 2 selector
In good working condition these boomboxes can sell for over $1000.00 and prices have been going up.
Update: One of these boomboxes sold for $2400 in near mint condition in August of 2014. A more recent sale was for $800 in December of 2018.
